Log Cabin Knit Blanket

Log Cabin style blankets come from a traditional quilting technique, where bands of fabric are built up to create a block. The same idea applies for the knitted technique, where stitches are picked up along the edge to knit another stripe. Blankets can be made by making multiple squares and then sewn together, or knit continuously as one large blanket. 

In this one day class we will cover how to have tidy edges and picking up the stitches.  While this class is beginner friendly, students should already be comfortable with the knit stitch. You can choose to make a small practice blanket or start right away on a bigger blanket.

This class is suitable for beginners with some experience. 

This class requires DK weight wool in your choice of colours and 4mm knitting needles, either straight or circular. For a practice a variety of leftovers is fine, for a baby sized blanket you will need 50g each of 4-6 colours. These supplies can be purchased from the mini mobile yarn shop on the day. If you order with your class booking please select Click and Collect and I will reserve your materials and bring them along to the class. I will also have a selection of appropriate yarns available on the day.

The sample is made with Bo Peep DK in Ladybird, Pumpkin, Buttercup, Apple, Sea Horse, Raindrop and Unicorn. 

Classes are held at Patch Chelmsford, 5-7 Grays Yard, Springfield Road, Chelmsford CM2 6QR. It is next to Nando's in the town centre.
