Knitted Socks

One of the best feelings in the world is a fresh pair of hand knitted socks. While they can feel intimidating the separate parts are more simple than you realise, have a little faith in the instructions and you’ll be turning heels with ease in no time! As a project that folds up small and alternate sections of plain knitting with more complicated bits, it’s no wonder socks are often the stalwart of a knitters WIPs. I can almost always be found with a sock tucked in even the smallest handbag, ready to go for any scrap of knitting time. 

In this three week class we will cover knitting in the round on double pointed needles, working and turning a traditional heel flap, decreasing the gusset and then finally working the toe and finishing off with Kitchener Stitch. We will work in a DK weight yarn so that we move through techniques more quickly, you will then have the skills to move on to thinner sock weight/4ply afterwards. 

This class is for established knitters, confident with knit and purl stitches. Some experience knitting in the round is helpful but not necessary.

The class requires the materials to make a pair of socks. If you order with your class booking please select Click and Collect and I will reserve your materials and bring them along to the class. I will also have a selection of appropriate yarns available on the day.
You will need 100g of DK yarn and 3mm double pointed knitting needles.

Classes are held at Patch Chelmsford, 5-7 Grays Yard, Springfield Road, Chelmsford CM2 6QR. It is next to Nando's in the town centre.
